Weekend Update welcomed Fallon and surprise guest New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to talk about their next steps. The women were into it, but the guys got increasingly uncomfortable as their girlfriends sang about getting it on surrounded by their childhood stuffed animals.įallon finally protested, singing, “It’s hard to get laid when there’s a picture of your girl from 7 th grade” - and then real childhood pictures of Vanessa Bayer, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, Nasim Pedrad, Cecily Strong, Nowell Wells, and Fallon popped up onscreen. The ladies of SNL got to shine in a music video about bringing their boyfriends home for Christmas - and the awkwardness that ensued while having sex in their childhood bedrooms. PHOTOS: Jimmy Fallon: From Early ‘ SNL‘ to Movie Star to ‘Late Night’ The big surprise came when the real Barry Gibb stopped by to groove with the guys, and gave his tacit consent for Timberlake to continue impersonating his late brother. Timerlake (Robin Gibb) and Fallon ( Barry Gibb) welcomed Madonna (as herself) to talk about the important issues of the day. Timberlake’s trick for playing Fallon? Calling everything “so great” and generally being more positive than any human should be.įallon and Timberlake also brought back their classic Barry Gibb Talk Show sketch for the first time since Robin Gibb‘s death in 2012. Later, Timberlake hilariously impersonated Fallon during a game of celebrity Family Feud, in which Fallon played Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons. But then McCartney showed up for real, and the two sang “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Fallon soldiered on, moving from mic to mic and singing in the style of the absent stars. He began singing, with the conceit that each microphone had been meant for a major music star ( David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney), but they’d all been held up in traffic. Fallon moved on to his opening monologue, where four microphones welcomed him.

Since blue color is a defining property of Aquamarine, it doesn’t come in any other color. That’s because beryllium, is a rare element in and of itself, and therefore beryl can only form where there are large amounts of it.Īquamarine is blue by definition, with the color ranging from the lightest pastel blue to the signature “Aquamarine” color that has the tiniest bit of green in it, to something a bit darker. As a source of beryllium, the mineral beryl is fairly rare. Unlike some minerals, this precious gem forms in a variety of rock, including both igneous and metamorphic rock. Like most minerals, Aquamarine forms deep inside the earth. Because Aquamarine is a hard mineral, jewelry of this specific gem is known to be durable, and can withstand regular wear. Those born in March have an Aquamarine birthstone. Due to its crystal structure, Aquamarine stone tends to be brittle. Raw Aquamarine crystals can be very large. Chemically, it is a beryllium aluminum silicate mineral, with a Mohs hardness of between 7.5 and 8.Ĭrystals tend to be hexagonal, with either a flat top or pointed like a prism. This family includes emerald, as well as a few lesser-known varieties. But, what’s so special about Aquamarine besides its color? What have gemologists (and jewelers) learned about this fabulous gem?Īquamarine is a lovely blue gemstone and a member of the beryl family. After all, its color reminds you of the sea or the sky above us on a cloudless day. For those who love blue gems, Aquamarine is a perennial favorite. 7/30/2023 0 Comments Downtown la underpassDual tubes for trolleys and autos first bore through the northeastern part of Bunker Hill (sometimes referred to as Court Hill.) The tunnels pictured below in historical photographs from some of the region's photographic archives were among the early solutions to the city's traffic problem. In our latest making of we speak to Flesser about the origins of this chilly tale and delve a little deeper into Year Walk's bleak world of Mylings and Night Ravens. Yet in other regards Year Walk is a continuation of a journey Simogo has been on for some time, the latest step in founders Simon Flesser and 'Gordon' Gardebäck's unique creative direction. The first-person adventure game's melancholic, unsettling horror stands out against Simogo's previous work, in terms of genre, tone and its approach to storytelling. A world away from the colourful, arcade experiences of Simogo's back catalogue, Year Walk represents quite a departure for the Malmö, Sweden-based indie studio. Come on, join in, and raise loads of money for St Catherine’s Hospice!” Some people are not experts at reading maps or following directions, so the presence of a steward is really important and it’s such an easy thing to do.Īs always I really wish all the walkers all the best of luck with this year’s Midnight Walk. We really need enough stewards to look after everyone safely, as it’s sometimes not easy to find your way in the dark, despite all the signage which is put up. You just need to stand there and offer encouragement to all the walkers make sure they stay safe by keeping on the path or pavement, take care crossing the road, and make sure they go in the right direction. It’s so easy to volunteer to be a steward. Sometimes we would start off in one point and move to others around the town to accommodate the different distances which the walkers would take part in. Over the later years, Adam and I were positioned at various points around Horsham. Not far to go now!” or something equally jolly. It was quite easy for us to say “Nearly there! Well done. We found it a complete inspiration to encourage the walkers on, especially as we were the last stewards before the end of the walk. So we first became stewards at the Midnight Walk in 2009, the year after Katy died. How hard could it be? We thought, it’s such a small effort to stand on a street corner and help others to achieve their goals, in comparison to all the strength and will power needed to undergo cancer treatment, and to repay St Catherine’s. We live in Horsham and know the area and streets really well, so we decided that we should pay back all the kindness and time that St Catherine’s had given to Katy, and all the other people who they help, so we offered to be stewards. This left myself and Adam, who was only 14 at the time.Ī little while later, we heard about the Midnight Walk and the need for volunteers to help stewarding the event. Sadly Katy passed away in 2008 at the age of 42. Katy found this a great help and we were all very grateful for the assistance it gave over the months that Andi came to see her. St Catherine’s arranged home visits with one of their counsellors at the time who came over once a week. Katy had to have more treatment at Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford and decided that she would like some counselling from St Catherine’s to help her get through the trauma. The cancer had spread to other parts of her body including her spine, brain and liver. It was a big blow, especially as we had a young son, Adam, who was around 10 at the time. She had undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy and unfortunately the cancer had returned a couple of years after we thought she was in remission. “Our first connection with St Catherine’s was when my first wife, Katy, was having treatment for her breast cancer. Here, Chris shares his story as to why he gives his time to St Catherine’s and his personal connection with the hospice: One of those volunteers is Chris, who has given his time to volunteer at the Midnight Walk for 10 years alongside his son, Adam. Our Midnight Walk returns to Horsham on Saturday 8 June and as ever, will be supported by a fantastic team of volunteers who will be working through the night to make the event the best it can be. 7/30/2023 0 Comments Low carb meal planningNo standard yet in the market, need fan for cooling, canbus problem in some carsĮxtremely expensive, not universal, generates heat. From gas burning lamps in the 1880s to laser beams today, headlights have undergone a massive transformation to the point in which now it’s even too difficult to pick the best headlight for your needs. Most of us get our car keys, turn the engine on and forget about the existence of headlights until it’s too late and we need to find a replacement last minute. Stephen Thompson of The A.V. Sputnikmusic's Adam Thomas called the album "a quintessential piece of '90s ska" and concluded that it "shows The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at the top of their game and is one of the greatest ska-punk albums to come out of the nineties." Thoughts that lingered and grew until they came to the forefront like an emerging cicada, torpedoing my life, changing it beyond all recognition, in the year of 1999.Let's Face It is the fifth studio album by American ska punk band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. And yet I’ve met too many who suffer from the condition, of a similar age and of an identical theme, not to confabulate the existence of the UK’s AIDS awareness public service broadcasting with the terror that nestled in my developing mind. People with OCD are told not to interrogate the origins of our obsessions – the content of the thought isn’t as important as the broken cognitive process. Five other people, clinic employees and volunteers, were injured. December 1994, the month 23-year-old John Salvi walked into a Planned Parenthood clinic in Brookline, Massachusetts, pulled a rifle out of his duffle bag, and murdered two receptionists – Shannon Lowney, 25, and Leanne Nichols, 38. The song did appear on the 1996 compilation Safe and Sound: A Benefit in Response to the Brookline Clinic Violence, alongside music from a host of my favourite artists (Morphine, Scarce, Folk Implosion and Buffalo Tom’s Bill Janovitz). Incidentally, there’s another belief that the Bosstones hit song might be about abortion. It’s a phrase that’s thought to derive from the folklore of the ancient Indo-Europeans, since the belief once prevailed that spirits lived in trees to knock on wood was to summon the good spirits to help you, or to deafen the bad ones who might seek to do you harm. I knocked on wood so often that you could see the varnish on my sore knuckles. This was music that at the time infuriated me – fey, soppy, cerebral – and yet, with hindsight, embodies a time in pop – fun, communal, tuneful - I would welcome back warmly now. In the earworm chorus to ‘The Impression That I Get’, Barrett roars the line “Never had to knock on wood” over the parp of trumpets and saxophones that defined the largely wretched output of most 90’s ska punk. Yes, but what if they mixed my blood up with someone else’s? What if they’d labelled it incorrectly? What if… One evening I plotted to break into the clinic with the green door on the outskirts of Newcastle to check they hadn’t. You’d think that a blood test would answer my fears definitively. Were I to touch a wet surface of a bar, it was ‘proof’ I’d got it even if I hadn’t previously. I looked for signs and symbols in the cosmos that might guide me were I to find myself on a street that housed a branch of HMV, it was ‘proof’ I had the virus. All my obsessions shared the same central tenet what if? The inability to know for certain was what tormented me, and in 1999, it reached the demented state such ruminations had always threatened to. But the time I woke up and decided I was HIV positive was the first time I had a thought that genuinely derailed my life. With hindsight, it had always been there - I’d had strange, upsetting, sometimes difficult obsessions for years prior. |
